Shi Zhongjun Hosts Luncheon Meeting with CPR to ASEAN

On 4 November, Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) hosted a luncheon meeting with the Committee of Permanent Representatives (CPR) to ASEAN in Jakarta. In attendance were Ambassador Sarah Al Bakri Devadason of Malaysia to ASEAN, Ambassador Aung Myo Myint of Myanmar to ASEAN, Ambassador Heng Sarith of Cambodia to ASEAN, Ambassador Dr Ton Thi Ngoc Huong of Vietnam to ASEAN, Deputy Permanent Representatives of Malaysia, Laos, Singapore and Thailand, and officials from the Permanent Missions of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Secretary General Shi expressed his sincere gratitude to the CPR for the long-term guidance and support for the work of the ACC, and introduced the ACC’s major programs in key areas such as trade, investment, education, culture, tourism and media. He stated that the ACC will remain committed to fully playing the role of a one-stop information and activities platform, implementing the important consensus reached by the leaders of China and ASEAN countries, strengthening the convergence of interests between both sides and promoting people-to-people exchanges. With the sustained and firm support of the CPR, the ACC will continue to design and implement more flagship projects and activities in the purpose of building a closer ASEAN-China community with a shared future and promoting common development and shared prosperity in the region.

The CPR to ASEAN spoke highly of the ACC’s great efforts and contribution in promoting mutually beneficial ASEAN-China cooperation in all fields, raising the public awareness of ASEAN in China, and deepening people-to-people exchanges between ASEAN and China. The CPR is willing to maintain close communication and cooperation with the ACC, and align practical cooperation between ASEAN countries and the Chinese localities based on their respective advantages and resources, so as to achieve more tangible results in areas such as economy, trade and investment, digital economy, cultural tourism, youth, education, media and think tanks, and continue to enrich the ASEAN-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
