On 3 March 2023, H.E. Secretary-General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) met with H.E. YB Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia and Chairman of Malaysia-China Business Council in Kuala Lumpur.
Secretary-General Shi Zhongjun said that the tourism industry and people-to-people exchanges stood out as pivotal areas of pragmatic cooperation between China and Malaysia, as well as the post-pandemic recovery in the region. During the recent years, the ACC has maintained good cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture of Malaysia to continuously promote cultural exchanges, mutual learning and people-to-people interactions between both countries. The post-pandemic era generates immense potential for Malaysia-China cooperation in trade and investment, which boasts vigorous momentum of growth. The ACC stands ready to continue advancing cooperation with Malaysia in relevant areas and make more contributions to the development of Malaysia-China relations and the ASEAN-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Dato Sri Tiong King Sing appreciated ACC’s long commitment in promoting friendly exchanges and pragmatic cooperation between AMS with Malaysia included and China in various fields, which has born rich fruits. This year marks the 10th anniversary of Malaysia-China comprehensive strategic partnership, and next year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Malaysia and China. Malaysia is willing to seize the opportunity to strengthen cooperation with the ACC in various fields such as tourism promotion, vocational training, cultural exchanges, trade and investment facilitation, so as to help more people in China better understand the idea of “Learning Malaysia is loving Malaysia”, further bringing the economic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between AMS and China to a new high.
