On 16 February 2023, the ASEAN-China Centre Roundtable Series: ASEAN-China Forum on Cooperation in Higher Education was successfully held in Tianjin University (TJU). H.E. Secretary-General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), H.E. Mr. Djauhari Oratmangun, Ambassador of Indonesia to China, H.E. Raja Nushirwan Bin Zainal Abidin, Ambassador of Malaysia to China, H.E. Arthayudh Srisamoot, Ambassador of Thailand to China, Dr. Yang Xianjin, CPC Secretary of TJU, Mr. Li Xin, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Foreign Expert Services, Ministry of Science and Technology of China, and experts, scholars, teachers and students attended the Forum.
Dr. Yang Xianjin presented honorary professor certificates to H.E. Djauhari Oratmangun, H.E. Raja Nushirwan Bin Zainal Abidin and H.E. Arthayudh Srisamoot. Ambassadors expressed their sincere appreciation to the ACC and TJU and acknowledged the significant achievements of TJU in scientific research and personnel training. They hoped to take this opportunity to further deepen bilateral exchanges in economy, culture, and personnel, especially in higher education, so as to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.
The ACC Secretary-General Shi Zhongjun expressed warm congratulations to the Ambassadors and to TJU on successfully hosting the Forum. Higher education plays an important role in regional development. To better shape the future of higher education, efforts shall be done from four aspects, namely, strengthening exchange of policy makers in said field, guiding young people to pursue cross-border education, promoting proactive application of digital technology, and strengthening the overall design and industry integration on a cross-border level to build a high ground of knowledge and creation in Asia.
Participants visited the National Facility for Earthquake Engineering Simulation of TJU after the Forum.
