On the afternoon of 6 September 2020, the 2020 Belt and Road Roundtable on Ecological Industry Cooperation and Development was held in Xining, Qinghai Province. The event was co-organized by Trade Development Bureau of Ministry of Commerce of China, Department of Commerce of Qinghai and CCPIT Qinghai Sub-council.
Mr. Yang Fengchun, Vice Governor of Qinghai Province, Mr. Chen Jian'an, Vice President of CCPIT, and Mr. Wu Zhengping, Director-General of Trade Development Bureau of Ministry of Commerce of China attended and addressed the roundtable. Mr. Fernando Lugris, Ambassador of Uruguay to China, Mr. Arthayudh Srisamoot, Ambassador of Thailand to China, Mr. Jean Lois Robinson Richard, Ambassador of Madagascar to China, Mr. Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) together with representatives of embassies from Argentina, Canada, Chile, Japan, Kenya, South Korea, Myanmar, Pakistan, Rwanda and Serbia as well as international institutions attended the event and delivered keynote speeches.
Vice Governor Yang Fengchun mentioned that Qinghai Province is willing to further deepen cooperation with other countries in the field of ecological industry, attract more international green investment to build a green and eco-friendly Qinghai. Based on the principle of mutual learning and assisting, jointly building and sharing, Qinghai Province seeks more convergence of interests and new points of growth for development.
Vice President Chen Jian'an pointed out that to promote the ecological industry cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, we must follow a high-standard, people-centered and sustainable approach to achieve high-quality development. Director-General Wu Zhengping said that the roundtable provided a new platform for Qinghai Province to strengthen exchanges with countries along the BRI route, which could help upgrade technology of its ecological industry. It also provided new opportunities for all parties to pursue innovation-driven development and deepen cooperation in ecological industry and related fields.
Thai Ambassador Arthayudh Srisamoot opined that Thailand is willing to serve as a link between Western China and Southeast Asia by further expanding and deepening cooperation with Qinghai Province and the rest of Western China to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.
Secretary-General Chen Dehai stated that ASEAN is the priority area for the BRI international cooperation. China and most ASEAN countries are developing countries, sharing the common need to carry out ecological industry cooperation and pursue low-carbon and sustainable development. By tapping into the potential of ecological industries, Qinghai Province will play an even bigger role in promoting ecological cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.
Diplomatic envoys to China and representatives of international institutions shared their own measures and achievements in promoting the development of ecological industry, calling for further promoting ecological industry cooperation among countries along the Belt and Road, enhancing bilateral and multilateral exchanges and seeking green development.
