On 15 March 2019, Mr. Chen Dehai, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), met with Mr. Thepchai Yong, President of Confederation of ASEAN Journalists (CAJ) and Managing Director of Thai Public Broadcasting Service (Thai PBS), in Bangkok, Thailand. Mr. Wang Zhiquan, Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations Division of ACC was present at the meeting.
Secretary-General Chen Dehai gave an brief introduction on the history and mandate of ACC and an outline of work plan in the field of media for 2019. He said that media exchanges and cooperation are very important for the development of ASEAN-China relations. It is hoped that CAJ will play a unique role in the Year of ASEAN-China Media Exchanges to further enhance the friendship between the two peoples.
Thepchai appreciated the introduction and expressed keen interest in a series of activities to be organized by ACC to celebrate the Year of ASEAN-China Media Exchanges. He expressed readiness to work together with ACC to actively promote friendly exchanges and cooperation on capacity building of media professionals from both sides to contribute to the development of ASEAN-China relations.
After the meeting, Secretary-General Chen Dehai was given a guided tour of Thai PBS.
