Dr. Pich Sophoan, Secretary of State, Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training of Cambodia (MOLVT), H.E. Mr. Im Koch, Secretary of State, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of Cambodia (MOEYS), H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), Ms. Zuo Wenxing, Political Counselor of the Embassy of China in Cambodia, Mr. Chen Jiquan, President of Yalong Intelligent Equipment Group (Yalong), Ms. Pan Lingzhen, Director of Foreign Affairs Office of Wenzhou Vocational and Technical College, and representatives of the recipient TVET institutions in Cambodia attended this ceremony.

Secretary of State Pich Sophoan highly commended Cambodia-China relations and the fruitful achievements through cooperation of both sides. On behalf of MOLVT, he extended his high appreciation and sincere thanks to ACC and Yalong to facilitate the donation of TVET equipment. He stated that under the leadership of Samdech Prime Minister Hun Sen, Cambodia is accelerating national development and has risen to become a low and middle-income country from a low-income country. It is expected that Cambodia will become an upper middle-income country by 2030. To this end, the Cambodia Government has issued a package of medium and long-term plans and policies in relation to industrial development, employment as well as technical and vocational education to boost human resource development and cultivate high-quality personnel. Yalong’s act of generosity in donating TVET equipment is a tremendous support to vocational education of Cambodia. It is hoped that MOLVT will stay closely in touch with Yalong and explore further cooperation in capacity building of both faculty and students from TVET institutions, purchasing TEVT equipment, and promoting industry-education integration as well as school-enterprise collaboration. He also thanked the Embassy of China in Cambodia for its long-term support to vocational education of Cambodia and extended his wish to continuously learn from the successful experiences of China’s vocational education development to improve the quality and standard of vocational education in Cambodia.

Secretary of State Im Koch stated that MOEYS is actively promoting intelligent education nationwide and facilitate students especially those from remote areas to acquire knowledge and techniques in a more efficient and economic manner by introducing social communication media and intelligent equipment, so that the quality of education will be continuously improved. The donation of TVET equipment today plays an important role in realizing this goal. The recipient institutions of Cambodia will make sure to make full and best use of the donated equipment.

President Chen Jiquan of Yalong said that Yalong, established in 1983, is a leading corporation in China’s education equipment industry. Yalong’s equipment has been sold to Southeast Asia, Europe and America with the purpose of providing more people with technology and techniques and making it a life-long goal to cultivate future engineers and serve future scientists. Yalong has constantly accelerated its steps of internationalization development, with the goal of establishing a leading brand in the world’s intelligent education equipment. By participating in ASEAN Skills Competition and donating TVET equipment as well as training programs, Yalong has been enhancing its exchanges and cooperation with ASEAN countries. Yalong hopes that on the basis of this donation, it will deepen collaboration with Cambodia by inviting more faculty and students from Cambodia to China for TVET training and exchanges and exploring the possibility to establish Yalong Silk Road Institute in Cambodia.

With ACC’s support and assistance, Yalong donated TVET equipment worth 1,000,000 RMB and training programs to Cambodia. The donation includes 10 sets of equipment i.e. YL-135 Electronic Technology Training System, which is mainly used in experiments such as recognition and detection of electronic components, welding of circuit board, assembly and debugging of electronic products, and design of PCB chart. The equipment will be installed within the relative TVET institutions affiliated to the MOLVT and MOEYS. Before the donation, Yalong had provided one-month long training program focusing on assembly and debugging of electronic products to 19 faculty staff from TVET institutions of Cambodia.
