On 18 October 2016, H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) met with Mr. Li Wenfei, Vice Mayor of Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province. Ms. Huang Ying, Director of General Affairs and Coordination Division of ACC, and Mr. Long Yong, Party Secretary of West District Committee of CPC, Panzhihua City attended the meeting.
Vice Mayor Li outlined the economic and social development of Panzhihua. He said that the city was carrying out the Opening to the South Strategy which aimed to promote advantageous local industries and expand its cooperation with ASEAN countries in the areas of trade, culture, and tourism. He looked forward to the continued support of ACC.
Secretary-General Yang mentioned ACC’s mandate and its recent work. She said that ACC had been actively implementing the important consensus reached by the leaders of ASEAN countries and China, and promoting ASEAN-China functional cooperation in the areas of trade, investment, education, culture and tourism. ACC would work to facilitate exchanges between Panzhihua and ASEAN countries, thus contributing to sub-national cooperation between ASEAN and China.
