On 14 January 2016, ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) Secretary-General H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping paid courtesy call on H.E. Mme. Gao Yan, Vice Minister of Commerce of China.
Secretary-General Yang expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Commerce of China for its strong support to ACC. She highlighted that trade and investment were the priority areas of ACC’s work. Last year, ACC proactively publicized China-ASEAN FTA policies, organized trade and investment missions by Chinese enterprises to ASEAN countries, enhanced sectoral matching and provided facilitation to enterprises of both sides. The ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) had been realized, and the negotiations on upgrading ASEAN-China FTA had been completed. 2016 marked the 25th anniversary of ASEAN-China dialogue relations. ACC would fully implement the consensus reached by the leaders, take into consideration of the actual needs of enterprises, continue to play the bridging role, and make consistent efforts to deepen ASEAN-China economic cooperation. She hoped that the Ministry of Commerce of China could continue to render its strong support to ACC.
Vice Minister Gao Yan commended ACC’s fruitful work in boosting ASEAN-China economic cooperation. She expressed that ASEAN was China’s important partner in foreign trade, mutual investment, project contracting and jointly building the Belt and Road. The realization of the AEC opened broader space for economic cooperation between the two sides. It was necessary for ASEAN and China to further strengthen policy communication and institutional connectivity, build high-standard connectivity in both hardware and software, promote trade and investment facilitation, conduct sectoral matching in a precise way and create good business environment for enterprises. The Ministry of Commerce of China would support ACC as always, and join hands with ACC to promote deepened and sustained development of ASEAN-China relations so as to achieve common prosperity.
