Exhibition of Contemporary Paintings by Renowned Chinese Artists Held in Bangkok

From 13 to 18 August 2013, ASEAN-China Centre successfully organized an Exhibition of Contemporary Paintings by Renowned Chinese Artists in Bangkok, Thailand. Approximately 200 pieces of paintings by 59 Chinese artists such as Mr. Jin Shangyi, Mr. Liu Dawei, Mr. Nimazeren, Mr. Du Dakai, Mr. Su Gaoli, Mdm. Mao Shuixian, Mr. Sun Zhijun, Mr. Man Weiqi, Mr. Zhang Renzhi and Mr. Dong Chensheng were exhibited. The Chinese artists delegation to Thailand was led by H.E. Mr. Li Zhaoxing, President of China Public Diplomacy Association. The Exhibition was divided into two parts, the first part (13-15 August) was organized at China Cultural Centre and the second (16-18 August) at the Central World. 

The opening ceremony of the Exhibition was held on 13 August 2013 at China Cultural Centre. The ceremony was well attended by more than 500 guests from various sectors of Thailand and the diplomatic corps in Bangkok. H.E. Mr. Li Zhaoxing and the Thai Minister of Culture H.E. Mr. Sontaya Kunplome, as the representative of the Thai Prime Minister, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. H.E. Li Zhaoxing mentioned in his remarks about significances of China-ASEAN relations, roles of China as a strategic partnership with ASEAN as well as mechanisms and platforms to enhance China-ASEAN connectivity such as China-ASEAN EXPO (CAEXPO) in Nanning, China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week in Guizhou, China-ASEAN Environmental Protection Centre and ASEAN-China Centre. H.E. Mr. Sontaya Kunplome spoke of the close and cordial relations between Thailand and China as well as ASEAN and China. He was proud to be a part of the efforts that enable peoples from both sides to learn more from each other and enhance everlasting friendship and understanding and wished for the success of the Exhibition. ACC Secretary-General Ma Mingqiang also elaborated on roles and functions of the ACC as an effective instrument to promote friendship and cooperation between China and ASEAN through people-to-people communication and linkages.

The Exhibition was a part of the ACC’s contribution to celebrating the 10th Anniversary of ASEAN-China Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in 2013. Thailand was chosen to be the venue of the event as it is the current country coordinator for ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations. The ACC will continue its efforts to promote cultural exchanges which have helped forge stronger relations between China and ASEAN as well as enhance mutual understandings among the peoples of China and ASEAN.
